    Quiz Question

Why did many Americans have a more belligerent attitude toward Japan than Germany/Italy before Pearl Harbor?

Americans always had more friendly attitudes towards Europeans. But this wasn't the main reason about Japanese question. Japan was trying to become a world power and was invading Chinese land where they harmed innocent people and tried changing many things.

Before World War II, Japanese aircrafts attacked a US gunboat in Yangtze River. This was called Panay Incident and took place in 1937. This happened while Japanese were invading Chinese lands where they used harsh measures against innocent Chinese people. Even though American President FDR told Japan to stop their invasion, they didn't listen to the US President and continued their occupancy in the Chinese land. As American troops and ships were being sent to the region, Japenese hated Americans more and more. As Japan believed that they were strong enough, they attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 and got inside World War II.

These are the main reasons why Americans disliked Japanese.
