Abstract— This document gives information about social networking criterion.
Keywords— social networking, ratio, male, female
I think that men in professional fields are more likely to use social media for more ‘professional’ reasons, like recruitment and networking, whereas women use it more to connect with friends, family, and co-workers on a personal level. Women have more “sharing needs” than men. Most women like to tell how the day was, and to say what they want, like, talk about their feelings, etc. Women, it goes without saying, love to talk and gossip. It may come as no surprise, then, that women are more social online than men.
This chart seems that in popular social news sites like Slashdot, Reddit, Digg include more male members than female members with significant ratio. The other social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook have almost the same male-female ratio; Twitter with 59% female users and Facebook with 57%. And the most female-dominated site is Bebo (66% female users), closely followed by MySpace and Classmates.com (64%). The average ratio of all 19 sites was 47% male, 53% female including fake profiles. There are lots of fake female profiles on social network sites. Whether it’s spammers, scammers or men pretending women, I’m willing to bet that there are a lot more fake women than fake men about.
